On November 5th, 2017, Devin Patrick Kelley walked into First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs in Texas, wearing tactical gear and carrying a military style assault rifle, opening fire and killing 26 Christians and injuring 24 others. After being shot by a gun carrying church neighbor, Kelley fled the church and was later found dead in his vehicle.
Shooter was reported to have targeted people who showed fear/weakness. He deliberately fired upon children who were begging for help.
In this small town, Kelley managed wiping out 7% of the entire population of the community.
Abuse of ex-wife and cracked the skull of 11 mo. old infant stepson
Kelley was court-martialed in 2012 on two charges of domestic assault on his wife and stepson.
He spent one year in military prison and received a "Bad Conduct Discharge" from the Air Force in 2014.
Did you find yourself feeling almost numb to this?
How did the shooter even get a gun?

Possible Solutions and Preventative Measures
Parents, Michael and Rebecca Kelley, need to be held under a magnifying glass. Monsters like their son do not just mysteriously appear in a vacuum. What did they do to him? Why was he so pissed off at the community? Is it possible that much of the anger was pointed toward the friends, the family, the community that sat back and said nothing- did nothing as he was being abused, mistreated, put on psych meds from grades 6 to 9; some of a child’s most formative years?
How can we ACTUALLY have an impact on preventing more of these events in the future? Put a magnifying glass on the parents and his childhood.
